FMCSA TO HOLD LISTENING SESSIONS ON VOLUNTARY COMPLIANCE BENEFITS

FMCSA Listening Session - Owner Operator Direct

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) is holding two public listening sessions in order to solicit information from transportation industry stakeholders on the potential benefits and feasibility of voluntary compliance in promoting safety beyond FMCSA standard regulations – Section 5222 of the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation – FAST Act.

The FAST Act mandates that the FMCSA Administrator allow recognition for bus and truck carriers that install advanced safety equipment, enhance driver fitness measures, improve fleet safety management tools, technologies, programs and other standards for use by motor carriers, to receive recognition, including credit or an improved Safety Measurement System percentile.

The two meetings per day will be held at two different venues: Friday, April 1 at the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, KY, from 10:00 AM to noon and 1:15 to 3:00 PM eastern time; and the second venue on Monday, April 25 at the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) Spring 2016 Workshop in Chicago, from 9:30 to 11:30 AM and 1:30 to 3:30 PM central time.

The sessions will be webcast and FMCSA will post specific information on how to participate via the internet on the FMCSA website in advance of the listening sessions. Comments will be accepted at the Federal eRulemaking Portal using Docket #FMCSA-2015-0124.
