High Winds Cause Semi Truck to Topple Over

High winds caused this semi truck to topple over in Texas.

The “bomb cyclone” - which is an intense winter storm consisting of snow and wind - has shut down interstates and stranded drivers in the Plains and Rockies regions of the country.

The storm has been linked to one death so far. Daniel Groves, 52, died on Interstate 76 after being struck by a driver who lost control of his vehicle.

Colorado’s National Guard has rescued 75 stranded people so far.

States are bracing for the storm to continue on Thursday in parts of Colorado, Nebraska, Wyoming, Minnesota, North and South Dakota.

While the intense weather may have peaked, it is not letting up.

All commercial truckers should be aware of the weather report before heading out on the road. Secure all doors and exposed items. And per usual, remember that empty trailers are more dangerous.

When in doubt: Slow down, or stop.
